Planter Development Program (PDP) is a training and advancement program designed for the future leaders in PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk. PDP is a gateway for the young leaders who seek to innovate and create meaningful impact within the palm oil industry.

PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk entered the plantation industry in Indonesia more than 30 years ago by merger from some companies. Starting with a cassava plantation, and later developing a rubber plantation, in 1984 the Company established an oil palm plantation in Riau Province. Today the Company has grown into one of the largest and best managed oil palm plantations in Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi operating planted oil palm with a total acreage of 286.877 hectares.

From its inception, the Company entered a collaboration with the local population using nucleus-plasma and Income Generating Activity (IGA) models, as well as other activities aimed at improving the livelihood of the communities living around the plantations, both palm oil related and non palm oil related. The collaboration efforts aimed at ensuring that the presence of the plantations managed by the Company should also bring great benefit to the surrounding communities.

As the business steadily grew, in 1997 the Company decided to go public and an IPO was made through the Indonesia Stock Exchange (at that time named the Jakarta Stock Exchange and the Surabaya Stock Exchange). Currently, shares owned by the public amount to 20.32% of the total 1.925 billion shares in circulation. The strong value of the shares on the Stock Exchange reflects the great confidence of investors in the company. On the last trading day on 31st December 2018, the company’s shares listed as “AALI” closed at Rp 14.575 per share.

Apart from operating the oil palm plantations, the Company also diversified by developing a relevant downstream industry as a strategy to safeguard the continuity of its business. It is currently also operating a palm oil refinery in the Mamuju Utara Regency in West Sulawesi Province, and in Dumai, Riau Province. Processed palm oil products taking the form of Olein, Stearin, dan PFAD produced by the refinery serve to meet market demand for export to China, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, Philippines and South Korea. The Company also set up a fertilizer blending plant in Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi Province since 2016 and in Bumiharjo, Central Kalimantan Province since 2017. In addition, the Company also initiated an integrated cattle-in-plantation business in Kotawaringin Barat Regency,  Central Kalimantan Province.

Who are we looking for?

To join the program candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

1. Fresh graduate and experienced applicants with passion to work in palm oil industry
2. The maximum age for candidates is 28 years old
3. Are willing to relocate in Sumatera, Kalimantan and Sulawesi
4. Capable of good analysis, planning and thinking outside the box in problem solving
5. Have desire to cultivate relationships with people from various background and capable of working together

1. PDP-TAN - Agronomy - Bachelor degree/BSc in Agronomy, Agrotechnology
2. PDP-TEK - Engineering - Bachelor degree/Bsc in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering
3. PDP-PAB - Engineering (MILL) - Bachelor degree/Bsc in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering
4. PDP-ADM - Administration - Bachelor degree/Bsc in Accounting, Management, Economy

Plantation Management Development Program
Plantation Management Development Program or PMDP is a management trainee program where the future leaders of Astra Agro learn andgain experiences by working with the company projects.

Qualification

• Fresh Graduate
• MinimumGPA 2.8
• Bachelor degree from any subjects
• Willing to relocate in Sumatera, Kalimantan and Sulawesi
• Eager to learn, adventurous, proactive and good analytical skill

PDP and PMDP Timeline

1. Leadership Training: Starting on the first day, the young leaders will undergo leadership training in preparation for On the Job Training (OJT)
2. Inclass Training: The Inclass training provides you with the opportunity to learn more about the company business process. During this session, you will also get the chance to participate in sharing session with board of directors of the company
3. On the job training: This is the stage where the future leaders are assigned to their designated area within Astra Agro palm oil plantation for a further training in technical and management aspect.
4. Evaluation: At the endofthe training, you will be assessed in a final evaluation. If you passed, congratulations because it means you are now part of the big family of Astra Agro Lestari.
